100% funds programs in Kwabeng
A community full of brilliant minds — and almost no books.
In Kwabeng, a town of over 30,000 people in Ghana's Eastern Region, students walk miles to school — often sharing a single textbook among dozens of classmates. Before the African Book Challenge arrived, there wasn't a single library within 25 miles.
Without access to books, children fall behind. Without scholarships, talented students are forced to drop out. The cycle continues — unless someone intervenes.

We Ship
We collect, sort, and ship books via container to Kwabeng. Every dollar is maximized — our team is 100% volunteer-run.
Kids Read
Books reach classrooms, the ABC Library, and students' homes. Scholarships keep talented students in school.
“Before the library came, I had never held a book that was just for me. Now I read every day — and I want to become a doctor so I can come back and help my community.
”
Abena was one of the first students to use the ABC Library when it opened in 2012. With a $650 scholarship, she completed Senior High School and is now pursuing nursing at the University of Ghana.

Trusted by donors, partners, and educators
I have been so impressed with how the African Book Challenge operates. Every dollar is accounted for, and I can see the direct impact of my contribution on students in Kwabeng.
Partnering with ABC for our company book drive was seamless. Their team provided everything we needed, and our employees loved knowing exactly where their books were going.
As a teacher, I use ABC's African Reading Lists in my classroom. My students are engaged, curious, and developing a global perspective they didn't have before.
